Ilir Meta, President of the Republic of Albania made an official visit today to the Principality at the invitation of the Sovereign.
His arrival follows that of the Prince in Albania on October 16, 2018 during which the Sovereign met Ilir Meta, as well as Edi Rama, Albanian Prime Minister. This visit to Monegasque territory made it possible to evoke the evolution of the environmental issues led by the Prince Albert II Foundation to the “country of the eagles” in particular with regard to the development of a protected marine area and the different subjects that made the object of exchanges during previous meetings. The Albanian president was also accompanied by Prince Leka II of Albania and his wife, Princess Elia of Albania. After this bilateral meeting, Prince Albert II raised to the dignity of Grand Croix in the Ordre de Saint Charles, Ilir Meta, during an official ceremony. Then, after lunch, he made a private visit to the Oceanographic Museum.
