The podium of the eighth edition of the “Woman of the Year, Prix Monte Carlo” was unveiled on Saturday, May 4th.
Sougwen Chung was elected winner of the Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Award 2019 for her artistic work. Chinese multimedia artist who grew up in Canada and lives in New York, she has been working with robots since 2015, exploring the links between handmade and design machines, to understand the relationship between humans and computers. His multi-faceted artistic practice also includes film, painting, sculpture, installation and performance. The Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Award – Monaco was awarded to Elena Rossoni-Notter, Director of the Museum of Prehistoric Archeology of Monaco, for her commitment, her tenacity during the discovery and dissemination of archaeological research on the Monegasque territory. His current goal is to show the many treasures contained in the museum and never shown to the public as well as continue to search for hidden treasures in the land and caves. Orlan, meanwhile, received the Monte-Carlo Woman of the Year Special Award for her career. This edition was devoted to the theme “Art & Science” on the occasion of the 500 anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci. During the evening, the Sovereign met the winners, with Cinzia Sgambati-Colman, President of the Award, and Ornella Barra, Co-Chief Operating Officer Walgreens Boots Alliance, sponsor of the event since the first edition in 2012.
