For the tenth edition of “Monaco Plage Propre”, the Principality is taking new measures throughout the summer against cigarettes’ damage to the environment.
The town hall, the executive of Tourism and Congress and the Monegasque Sanitation Society are implementing actions to raise awareness among smokers about respect for the cleanliness and quality of the beaches. Since last Saturday, self-service ashtrays are available at the three entrance points of the Larvotto beach. Pocket ashtrays are also available at the Solarium de la Nouvelle Digue and at several information points of the Tourism executive. These ashtrays are reusable and can also be put back on displays or in vending machines. Moreover, some “Monaco zéro mégot” flyers will be distributed during the summer to explain the impact of cigarettes on the environment. To reduce the footprint of cigarette butts on nature, the Princesse Antoinette park has become totally non-smoking. The exotic Garden will follow the same path soon.
