On July 11th, the private jet reservation platform PrivateFly detailed fashionable destinations, among which the first is the Nice-Côte d’Azur airport.
The company’s calculations are based on an analysis of private flights. As a rule, London and Paris are predominant in Europe, but Nice has distinguished itself more and more these past few months. Indeed, on the second trimester of 2019, the number of private jets landing in the city increased by 30% compared to the previous year. It thus became, for this time, the most popular private jet destination in Europe and the third most popular in the world, behind New York and Washington DC.
A prized summer destination
Adam Twidell, CEO of PrivateFly, explains that demands for flights to the airport have increased since early spring. Two events especially explain this concentration: the Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Prix, which attract the highest number of private jets in Europe. Furthermore, the Côte d’Azur remains a prized destination for the summer. As a rule, most flights going to Nice fly directly from Paris or London, or come directly from other popular summer destinations, such as Ibiza, Barcelona or Milan. However, Nice also attracts more international clients, with private jets flying from airports in the United States, the Middle East or Japan.
