There were many of them cheering on the French rugby union team this morning at the Stade Louis-II during the training session open to the public. At the end of the session, the fans were allowed to approach the players, take pictures with them and get autographs.
A great advertisement for rugby in the Principality! Several hundred fans of the oval ball (or just curious) massed in the spans of the Stade Louis-II, this morning at 11.30, to attend the training session of the French team, which was open to the public. In training in Cap d’Ail and Monaco until July 26th, the French players were able to test their popularity ratings. The applause and encouragement were numerous, as soon as a beautiful action ended with a try or a beautiful gesture was made. The training, under real conditions (15 to 15), was very challenging. You could hear the sounds of bodies colliding, despite the noise in the stands! Some, like Captain Guilhem Guirado, set the tone, haranguing their teammates. Then it was time for the crowd of supporters to fill the stadium, at 1.30 pm. The children, happy to approach the players they admire, took advantage of the moment to ask for autographs and photos during the half hour provided for this purpose. The opportunity, also, to wish them good luck, as the French rugby union team will play its first World Cup game in just under two months, in Tokyo (Japan), against Argentina.
