In 2010, the government joins forces with the Prince Albert II Foundation and the MC2D association for the launch of this programme, which encourages businesses and public authorities to use sustainably managed wood, particularly through membership to the charter on wood in the Principality. In 2018 a study was carried out and the balance sheet of this charter came out positive with a response rate of 98%.
Indeed, for 88% of the signatories, the charter represents an anchor in a global approach to fight against deforestation and a consolidation of the responsible commitment of the company (87%). 60% believe that joining the operation is a way to differentiate themselves from competitors and to obtain new markets. 77% of wood user companies mention certification as a criterion of choice in their calls for tenders. This figure rises to 84% for the choice of furniture. In addition, the signatories have generally favored the supply of wood and timber products via local channels. This study also made it possible to assess the impact of the dematerialization of work and the computerization of data since in this context, 46% of companies tend to reduce the use of paper.
Public and private actors rewarded
In 2018, 13 signatories received a trophy in three distinct categories. First of all, for having obtained the maximum appreciation on the last two balance sheets, ES-KO, Gandelli house, the town hall, Rapid offset, Wood work and Graphic Service are on the podium. Then, for the best progression on the last two balance sheets, it is AGPR, the Tourist and Convention Authority, Dito, the Hotel Metropole and SAM Tout bois, were the big winners. And finally, for their most ambitious action plans, the Grimaldi Forum and the company JB Pastor and Fils came out victorious.
