Several new records were set during the traditional Monaco Run that took place this weekend in the Principality.
Three new records. The first one was set in the morning on Sunday by the French runner Liv Westphal. She ran 5km in 15’31’’ and became the new national recordwoman of France of the distance. Jimmy Gressier (France) beat the European record on the same distance by setting a 13’18’’ time. Finally, the third athlete of the day was the Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei who got himself a world record of 5km on the road, setting a new time of 12’51’’. He beat the Kenyan Rhonex Kipruto former record of 13’18’’. After two world records set during the event last year, in its first edition, the 5km Herculis organised within the framework of the Monaco Run demonstrates once again its international legitimacy by displaying an extremely fast route crossing the Principality on its length and a climate more than conducive to great performances. The weather conditions of this weekend with a mild temperature and no wind at all helped the athletes to give their best in an event that confirms its notoriety to the international classes of athletics.
