The eighth meeting of the local cross-border commission for Franco-Monegasque cooperation was held on 11th January at the Ministry of State of the Principality. Its mission is to address neighbourhood issues between the Principality and the local authorities in the Alpes-Maritimes, particularly in matters of social affairs, health, transport, planning and the environment.
Various topics were on the agenda, such as the improvement of the Monaco service roads, particularly with the reopening of the Beausoleil motorway exit ramp, the development of crossroads on the Moyenne corniche, the development of alternative transport modes such as the creation of a maritime link, as well as the advancement of the technical aspects of securing the Rainier III tunnel.
The exchanges also focused on the housing of assets, the implementation of telework for the employees of Monegasque companies residing in France, the activities developed by companies of the Principality on the French territory, the integration of the Institute of Monaco Nursing Education within ParcourSup for the 2019-2020 year and the improvement of the coordination of the national police and gendarmerie services in the field of traffic management during rush hours.
The committee welcomed the successful implementation of the digital partnership signed in 2015 between the Principality and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and discussed other cross-border cooperation projects. The two delegations agreed to hold the next session of the local committee in 2020 in Nice.
