Auction: restart at the HVMC

26 May 2020 - 7h43

After this period of confinement, the Maison des Ventes de Monte-Carlo is relaunching its activities with several vacations this week which will take place, mainly, due to health prescriptions, online.

Unable indeed to bring together the usual public, given the circumstances. Only a limited number of people will be able to attend the sales, the auctions of which will take place mainly online or by telephone. Wednesday 27th, there will be two vacations, in the morning at 10:30am and in the afternoon at 2:30pm. In total nearly 450 lots are offered to buyers. In the morning, a private collection of intaglio and cameos, which has been together since the 1950s, has remained in the same family. Some pieces belong to Roman or Hellenistic art, others are dated from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. They are exceptional. Then follow some 400 pieces of jewelry. Jewels of charm of nature to satisfy, by their diversity, a very large clientele with estimates at different levels.

Iconic lots

Several remarkable pieces appear in the catalog, including a “Starfish” brooch from Buccellati. Second day, Thursday 28th, on the theme: “The HVMC empties its warehouses”. A total of 600 lots with a very wide variety since we will find furniture, archeology, paintings, ceramic or porcelain objects, an interesting pair of terrestrial and celestial globes. Numerous oils on canvas, on panel or watercolours by renowned artists are included in the catalog which also presents books, and nearly a hundred lots of vintage and grand cru wines. Among the remarkable objects are also 40 works on the theme of Russian Ballets and Theater. Fans will not fail to find what they are looking for in these different specialties. Sales which therefore mark the restart of the season despite the particular context and the circumstances which also oblige to make an appointment if one wishes to see the objects before the sale (information: +377 93 25 88 89).
