2€ ecological cups in pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix

21 May 2019 - 15h16

At six days of the Grand Prix 2019, Monacup’Green will for the first time create ecological, recyclable, reusable and washable cups customized for this occasion and offered to all merchants in the Principality.

In order to raise the public’s awareness of respect for the environment, these cups, in the colors of the Grand Prix in agreement with the ACM, will be identical for all the establishments that will adopt it and which will apply the known principle of the deposit: its amount is set at two euros that the consumer will recover at the time of return his cup. They will be one size fits all for both pint and half pint.

Originality of the concept: a washing / drying line will be set up near the circuit to recover the dirty cups and replenish the establishments in clean cups. This concept, new for the Principality, has already proven itself in the biggest events in France and in Europe (Roland-Garros, 24 Hours of Le Mans, European Football Cup, Rugby World Cup, …).

It is with the support of the Town Hall, the Automobile Club and the Department of the Environment that this project was born, within the framework of the policy of reduction of the plastic waste led by the Principality since 2015, to the through an action plan including: the ban on single-use plastic bags in 2016, straws and plastic tins on 1 January 2019, plastic cups, cutlery and plates from January 2020. Note that the Department of the Environment is also working on substitutions that could be implemented for single-use plastic takeaways
