In the third free practice session between 12am and 1 pm, the Monegasque clocked the fastest time in 1’11’265, closely followed by the two Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas (1’11’318) and Lewis Hamilton (1’11’478). During the session, his team-mate Sebastian Vettel did not have the same luck and missed his braking finishing the race in the rails at Sainte-Dévote bend, after a probable wheel lock.
