200 volunteers and 3,000 visitors enabled the organization to raise more than 71,000 euros last Saturday during its big sale. An amount that will be spent on the acquisition of an electric passenger vehicle.
Espace Léo-Ferré welcomed nearly 3,000 people who came especially for the occasion. Thanks to them, the total amount of the profits of the event amounted to 71 350 euros this year. Sharing, solidarity and humanity were the watchwords of the day, as when five teenagers made a spontaneous donation of 45 €, without making a purchase, simply out of sheer generosity. A gesture hailed by the MRC.
In total, there were 575 cartons of items sold with more than 10,000 items of clothing, furniture, dishes, linens and other items. Nearly 1,000 shopping bags “World Day of the Red Cross” purchased, more than 2,000 raffle tickets sold and about twenty thematic stands, among others. The money collected will be entirely devoted to the acquisition of an electric passenger transport vehicle, to facilitate “sustainable” travel.
This day on the theme of love, celebrated the World Day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, set for May 8 around the world (date of the birth of Henri Dunant, founder of this international movement). In addition, this event was also an opportunity for the MRC to strengthen its link with the youth as fun activities and games for 3-12 years were organized and were a great success with 94 children present at the event’s workshops.
